The language of influence ............

One of the things that my corporate clients ask me about the most is information on how to influence people. There is something appealing about being able to say whats needed the magic words that will get people to do whatever you want them to do and want to. To be able to influence that client, your boss to get the best for you and your business.

Words are only part of the equation; you need to be congruent with your message. Your voice, body language plus a few other factors need to be in place for you to become effective an influencing those around you. These ingredients need to be in place to enable the magic words to do their work so that you get the results that you want.

If you have tried out your language skills previously and haven’t got the results you were expecting it was probably due to the fact that one of the other key factors was missing.

Here are my key factors to the language of influence ..........
1. Know what you want. What outcome do you want from this situation?
2. Know what is important to the person/people you want to influence.
3. Build and maintain rapport. Rapport is that feeling that someone understands you, that you are on the same wavelength. Once you have rapport you can then lead the situation.
4. When you are setting out to influence someone ensure that your own baggage is put to one side so that your complete focus is on the other person and the situation at hand.
5. Utilise metaphors. Masters of influence, great salespeople are great story tellers.
6. Develop the ability to use your voice. Your voice is your most powerful tool as a communicator and when you speak you bathe people with the tones of your voice. People listen with their whole body use your voice so that you make them feel good and they will warm to your message.
7. Become fluent in language patterns, practice; experiment with patterns and notice the responses that you get. You’ll be surprised at just how quickly you can become really good at this
